USB Hubs
USB hubs are a convenient way to increase the number of devices you can connect to your computer. As computers become more compact, some ports and connections are often lost. USB hubs are an excellent solution to this problem, allowing you to add between 4 and 28 USB ports to your computer.
Do you need a USB-C Hub or a USB-A Hub?
-
USB-C Hub
A USB-C hub uses a smaller universal connector that allows you to connect multiple devices and device types. USB-C is increasingly being used in modern devices such as smartphones, tablets, and laptops, offering greater flexibility and future-proofing as more new devices adopt this standard. You can operate several devices through the hub, for example, to charge your phone or tablet or access an external hard drive. For speeds of 20 GB or more, a USB 3.2 device is recommended.
Choose a USB-C hub if you own modern devices and want to take advantage of faster data transfers and higher charging power.

USB-A Hub
In case you want to use older USB devices, you should consider a USB-A hub and ensure that it supports the USB 1.0 and 2.0 standards. Newer devices, on the other hand, utilize USB 3.0 or higher.
Keep in mind that black and gray ports indicate USB 1.0 or 2.0, while a blue port signals USB 3.0 or higher; these USB 3 devices offer faster data transfer rates for file transfers. The speed depends on the version (USB 2.0, 3.0, 3.1, etc.). USB 3.0 provides speeds of up to 5 Gbit/s.
Choose a USB-A hub if you primarily use older devices or peripherals and your laptop or PC does not have USB-C ports.
Type-C / Type-A Combo Hub
The Manhattan Combo Hubs feature a 2-in-1 combination cable with interchangeable USB-C and USB-A connectors. This allows you to connect the hub to a variety of USB host devices.
Just select the appropriate connector for your PC, laptop, tablet, MacBook®, Chromebook™, or Surface®.
Mini Hub
The Manhattan Mini Hubs are perfect for providing additional ports on your desk when space is limited. Their compact design makes it easy to store them in a bag or backpack. These hubs are especially beneficial for connecting peripherals like USB flash drives, keyboards, and mice, and they can charge USB devices, although more slowly than powered hubs. The Mini Hubs offer a great solution for expanding the number of ports available on a laptop desktop. Thanks to their small form factor, these hubs are particularly well-suited for SBC projects involving devices such as the Raspberry Pi or similar.
What is the difference between a USB Hub and a USB Docking Station?
-
USB Hub
A USB hub expands the number of available USB ports. It allows you to connect multiple USB devices (such as keyboards, mice, printers, or external hard drives) to a single USB port on your computer.
USB hubs are ideal for users who simply need additional USB ports to connect peripherals. They are compact and easy to transport.
Choose a USB hub if you primarily need extra USB ports and are looking for a compact and portable device.

USB Docking Station
View Docking StationsIn addition to multiple USB ports, a docking station can also include other connections such as HDMI, DisplayPort, Ethernet (LAN), and audio ports. Docking stations often allow you to connect a laptop to a monitor, keyboard, and mouse while simultaneously charging the device.
Docking stations are better suited for users who frequently connect their laptops to a workplace. They provide a central connection for all peripherals and enable quick plug-and-play functionality.
Choose a USB docking station if you need multiple types of connections (e.g., HDMI for a monitor) and plan to use your laptop regularly at a fixed workplace.
